Hello everyone! Today, let's talk about a special day that makes us look forward to delicious food and warm moments with loved ones every fourth Thursday of November - it's Thanksgiving Day!
This is a day when families and friends gather together to share a precious dinner and express gratitude to one another.
So, have you ever wondered about the origins of this exciting and tasty holiday? Let's dive in and explore it together in a fun way!
A long time ago, there were people from a small village in England. They were called the ‘Puritans’
The ‘Puritans’ left to find a new land because they wanted to practice their religion freely.
They took a long trip on a ship called the Mayflower.
After more than two months of hard sailing, they finally reached a new place.
That place is now the United States.
But living in the new land was not easy. Many people got sick and had a hard time because of the cold winter and the strange new environment.
Luckily, the Native Americans who lived there helped them.
The Native Americans taught the ‘Puritans’ how to plant corn, grow squash, and catch fish.
The Puritans worked hard, and finally the season of the first harvest arrived.
They were thankful for the good harvest and held a festival.
They also invited the Native Americans who had helped them.
This three-day festival of eating and celebrating became the first Thanksgiving.
Since then, people have celebrated Thanksgiving every year with thankful hearts.
