“Everything was our first.”
Hello Readers!
Hello Readers! I am July Kim, a manager working on the Dot Kiosk. I have been with with the Business Development Team at Dot Inc. since January. There were a lot of moments where I felt proud of our products. I would like to share with you one of the experiences that I had.
COVID-19 has been continuing for the past few years and it was very difficult and complicated to go overseas. However, I was able to attend a conference in Germany called “REHACARE Trade Fair” which finally opened their doors in 3 years. We exhibited two of our products Dot Pad and Dot Kiosk for the first time in Germany!
“
I was thrilled to introduce Dot tactile display to all the visitor!
”
I have attended 2 other conferences within Korea before but as it was my first time attending a conference overseas, I was very worried. With meticulous planning with the Business Development Team, we flew off to Dusseldorf, Germany!
The REHACARE Trade Fair was more focused on wheelchairs and medical devices rather than assistive devices which got me a little concerned for our devices. However, this concern was soon gone when we arrived to see our booth located at a visible and approachable area. A lot of the visitors, including students, people on wheelchairs and families, showed their interest and questioned our Barrier-free Kiosk. Unlike my worries, we were poured with questions.
“Various Stories from Each Step”
At the 4-day long fair, we were able to see various people with different disabilities. After conversing with them, we were surprised to know that there were 4 different places holding a conference with the size of a soccer field. We also got to know that a German Welfare Organization provides different support for different disabilities.
We definitely faced language barrier when we were there. We needed a local translator to communicate and explain the necessity of our Barrier-free Kiosk and the visitors admired our technology of displaying navigation and various contents.
“
The visually impaired and the blind visitors told me that they wanted this technology to be available in Germany as well. I remember one visitor telling me that he only imagined this technology when he was in his twenties but was not able to realize it because he didn’t know how. He said he was happy to see our 20-cell module and Dot which made me equally happy.
"
Many local students and education-related staff were interested in Dot Pad, which is also one of our main products. They were amazed to see that they can draw and display it in tactile in real time.
“First Step towards the World in Germany”
It became the last day in a wink. On the last day, the host of REHACARE Trade Fair selected the main exhibit, and our digital tactile Kiosk and Dot Pad was poured with interest, and I was able to capture that moment.
I can already see our products becoming a big hit worldwide.
“Barrier-free” has always been the key word in other countries. However, they did not have the device that suits this word and I believe this is the reason why they chose our product.
In the 4 days of the Trade Fair, I was able to gather great insight from the conversations and feedbacks the visitors gave!
At REHACARE, I felt proud of what we are doing. It motivated me to work harder to spread our technology so that people can carry out their daily life without difficulty.
