"Knock knock!"
We journeyed through the mountains and over the seas all the way to Italy to meet someone special!
Dot Incorporation’s two co-founders went over last month on the 29th to meet someone whose voice reminds you of the beautiful scenery of Italy. Let us introduce you to the man of the hour:
"Andrea Bocelli!"
The Tenor singer Andrea Bocelli was born on a small farm in Tuscany, Italy. At the age of 6, he learned piano and started to grow his interest for music. When he was 12, he lost his sight due to an accident. He maintained a positive attitude in which he later majored in Law at the University of Pisa and went on to become a lawyer for several years.
However, he could not give up his passion for music so he quit. Afterwards, he started playing piano at a jazz bar to pay for his opera lessons with the famous tenor singer Franco Corelli.
In 1992, he started to gain recognition when he sang “Miserere” with the Italian pop star Zucchero.
‘Dot’ and Bocelli’s relationship dates back to 5 years ago when the Dot Watch first debuted. We had the honor of meeting him through ‘Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile)’, a major German telecommunications company, when they were preparing for the Cannes Advertising Festival. Bocelli was filmed traveling Europe wearing a dot watch.
Bocelli got a first look at the Dot Pad when our co-founders visited his house. He asked in awe “Wow this is real?” We got to show him the music score of his song Sogno,
and a soccer field to the die hard soccer fan. Through the ‘Canvas’ application, he got to experience pictures he drew along with his signature.
But his absolute favorite part
"
Was when he got to touch his youngest daughter’s artwork: an image of his face along with hearts and “babbo”, Italian for “dad”, in her own handwriting.
"
He believed that a lot could be done with the Dot Pad and gave us numerous ideas. One of them was the possibility of using it in conjunction with an application that can detect obstacles, which he said would be great to use while walking.
Our initially planned 30 minutes became 3 hours.
He shared that thought the Dot Pad could not only be used for education but also in everyday life, enjoyed in a variety of ways. He said he wanted to personally provide support as well as through the Andrea Bocelli Foundation.
"
Andrea Bocelli, the one who touches many hearts with his voice, was touched by the Dot Pad. With that encouragement, we charge forward towards Dot’s development.
